ğŸŽdecorations of red on a green Christmas treeğŸŽ„

What a year, y'all! It's truly hard to conceive that a year has come and gone since the wrap up of our successful Kickstarter campaign and the release of my debut EP "Speak Your Mind." I am writing my end-of-year letter to you the same way I did last year, by a glowing fire and twinkling tree. This year, however,  there's the added bonus of a little rascal elf jangling measuring spoons at my feet. There is never a dull moment, these days!

This year has been full on; if somewhat of a blur. I've experienced a kaleidoscope of emotions ranging from: "this is the best year of my life," to "what is life?" Ha! Trying to raise two youngins at once (my real baby and my music baby) has been a lot like trying to work one of those million piece jigsaw puzzles... rigorous and rewarding. That being said, just when I think I'm at my breaking point, I'll do a show and folks show up (on a Monday night, no less!) and cheer me on; or I'll receive an email or a tweet from someone saying that they've recently discovered or rediscovered  one of my tunes and I feel a complete sense of renewal; and then, of course, I'll spy a little smile from my babe. These moments are medicine to my bones and literally gives me energy to dig deep and shovel some more coal in the furnace.

Music has always been a lifesaver to me and sharing the human experience through music is a gift I treasure. Recently, I went into the studio and recorded one of my all time favorite Christmas songs, Blue Christmas. I love "The King's" version, but there's only one Elvis... so we decided to switch it up and put a bluesy/soulful twist on it with a bit of a slow swing, and I think it turned out really well. We tracked it all one frigid evening in late November at my buddy Tom Bukovac's studio on Music Row - and kept my baby boy up past his bedtime, but I think it was worth it! I took that song and paired it with a song I wrote last year with my songwriting compadre, Roger Cook, titled "A Star Was Born." To round out the 3 song compilation I added my throwback country song, "Santa's Little Darlin'," to the mix and voila! I titled the EP Blue Christmas and it's now available on for download on iTunes and for streaming on Spotify. I hope you can take a moment to give it a listen and if you would be so kind (pretty please) as to help me share it on social media or review it on iTunes, I would so appreciate it! Music is meant to be heard and y'all are my squad, so to speak, so thank you for helping me get it out there!

This Friday I'll be performing a couple of songs from this Christmas EP at South here in Nashville. If you live here, I'd love to see you! It's a holiday bash, so if Christmas is your thing, you won't want to miss it.

So, dear folks, wherever you are and whatever this time of life holds for you I want you to know that I sincerely wish you love and joy and a hand to hold. There's always the hope that this next year can and will be better than the last. I know, at least, for me that it's the people (such as you!) that make life a little more enjoyable and the load a little lighter. So let us stick together!

Sending love to you and your loved ones now and always.
Let's keep on keeping on...
